I’ve been working on this website for almost a week. I have 2 posts and a few in the pipeline ready for typing out. It’s bizarre as I am excited, frustrated and nervous all at the same time.
I’m excited because I’m actually doing something constructive towards the travel writing idea I have had for a few years. I’m frustrated because I am a complete novice when it comes to web design and working out how to building a site and even worse fixing things like broken links drives me nuts! Finally I’m nervous because I want this site to work, I want a professional site that will entertain, advise and document my adventures no matter what they are or where they occur.
Right now I can’t get the ‘Read More’ link for each post to work and for some reason the all the links on the mobile version don’t work. Grrrrrrrr! All in all though, this is a fun experience. I’m learning new skills, I’m learning more about the places I visit and probably most importantly it is providing me with a focus for my life while I struggle with depression. It really does help and doing something now with an aim in front of me means this is an ongoing fix.
As you can see I have decided to include my mental state in these posts, not so I can wallow in it or make it a theme. The last thing I want is to make a pity party or seek sympathy, depression is what it is and it’s something I am learning to cope with in many ways. More than anything I want to show to me, you and everyone else that I am a real person with real life issues, that I can overcome those issues if I really want to. I want to show everyone that it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, that it is just another life challenge that many people struggle with, that it doesn’t mean I or anyone else is a nutcase because of it and that I can get along in life just fine with a bit of work and thinking outside of the box!
So with the help of family, friends and you my site is developing, morphing into the beast it is destined to be.
Thank you for joining my journey. Let’s see where it takes me and of course it is great to have you along. Let me know of your journeys, your crazy stories or places you think I should go. Pass on any advice you have for blogging or travelling. I would love to hear from you. Contact Me
